The Short Reads Decodables module includes short informational and fiction texts on 2 sided decodable cards that provide practice with decoding. Teachers can go online to view lessons, texts, and other resources.
Short Reads Decodables: Home Screen
From the Ready4Reading home screen, select the Short Reads Decodables module to view the Short Reads Decodables lesson cards on the home screen. Select Filter by Teaching Guide to navigate through the various lessons organized by skill.
Short Reads Decodables: Lessons
From the Short Reads Decodables home screen, select any Student Card. For each card, there is a two-page lesson on a particular phonics focus.
To the right of the digital lesson, you’ll see corresponding Lesson Materials and resources. You’ll also see Ready4Reading Connections to lessons in Wiley Blevins Teaching Phonics and Read to Know Text Sets if your district has purchased the full Ready4Reading system.
Short Reads Decodables: Texts
All Short Reads Decodables Student Cards can be found on the Teacher Hub. From the Short Reads Decodables home screen, select Texts.
From there, select any Student Card to view the digital cards students will view.
Short Reads Decodables: Resources
On many Short Reads Decodables digital lessons, you’ll see links to Resources on the right side of the screen. These link to various resources to support instruction.
Take-Home Student Cards: Students may reread these downloadable Short Reads Decodables Student Cards or explore new texts that target skills they have learned.
Oral Reading Rubric: Use this downloadable rubric to track students’ phonics and comprehension progress as they read aloud a decodable text. The rubric may be used with any text but may be most informative when used at regular intervals with Short Reads Decodables at the end of every set of ten texts.
Word Study Skills Lessons: These downloadable lessons may be used when listed on the digital lesson under Related Materials, or at any time.
Phonics Skills Lessons: These downloadable lessons may be used when listed on the digital lesson under Related Materials, or at any time.
Language Supports for Muliti-lingual Learners: Links to additional scaffolds to support multilingual learners at point of use.
Spelling Lists: The sequenced Spelling Lists to study are available for use at any time.
