To begin assigning the SRM, select the Scholastic Reading Measure tile in your Scholastic Digital Manager dashboard.
Next, you can View Scores and Assign SRM to individual students or the entire class, or watch the SRM Student Demo video.
To start a new assignment, first select the class you would like to assign the SRM.
Next, select the Assessment Period (Beginning of Year, Middle of Year, or End of Year).
Finally, select the assignment time period. The students must begin the SRM within four weeks of the start date. After that, the assignment will expire. Once the students start the SRM, they must complete it within two weeks. After that, the SRM will be canceled and any work deleted.
Once the assessment criteria has been set up, you may now begin assigning the SRM to students. Teachers can assign the Scholastic Reading Measure (SRM) by individual students or by a group of students.

To assign the SRM to an individual student, select the box in the first column to the left of the student's name.

Teacher Appraisal (Optional)
When students begin the Scholastic Reading Measure, they will be placed at a starting point that corresponds to their grade level. However, if you know that a student is above or below grade level, you have the option to indicate that here.
SRM Assignments Confirmation Screen
After making your assignments, you’ll see the confirmation screen, showing which students have been assigned the Scholastic Reading Measure. The screen also gives information about the following:
Start Date & Time: When the SRM was/will be available.
- If a teacher has assigned the SRM, students must begin it within four weeks of the start date. If an administrator has assigned the SRM, students must begin it before the end date selected by the administrator. After those deadlines, the SRM will be canceled and any work deleted.
- Once students start the SRM, they must complete it within two weeks. After that, the SRM will be canceled and any work deleted.
- School and district administrators can also assign the SRM. If duplicate assignments are made, the most recent assignments stand.
Status: Shows whether the student has started or is in progress in the SRM. If the student has completed the assessment, you’ll see their Lexile measure here.
Canceling and Reassigning the SRM
To cancel or reassign the SRM, use the Action column to the right to select Edit Assessment or Cancel Assessment for each student.
Viewing a Student’s Lexile Measure
After students have completed the SRM, their Lexile measure will be available on the confirmation screen shown above, as well as in the Student Leveling Report.
