From the Student Hub home screen, students select the Read to Know Text Sets module. From there, they can select the set of decodable readers targeting topics and sound spellings .
Text Sets
Each text set includes a video and three decodable books on a connected topic. Students first review the video, which provides background knowledge on the topic they are learning about. The 3 texts in the set are designed to build knowledge. The first book retells information from the story, the second expands their knowledge by providing more information, and the third takes the topic from the video and turns it into an engaging fictional story Students can click on each book icon to read the texts.
Word Warm-Up
After selecting a book from a Read to Know Text Set, the student will be asked to complete the Word Warm-Up activity prior to reading.
Online Reading
Students will read the Read to Know Text Set books online. The program will note when a book is read.
Read & Record
After reading a book, the student has the option of completing a Read & Record activity, which allows students to record themselves reading the text. Teachers have access to these recordings to support grouping and instruction. For more information about the Word Warm-Up and Read & Record activities, see Student Hub: Letters2Meaning Digital Assessments.
Review Books
After reading the three Read to Know Text Sets, the student will see a Review Book, which monitors the student’s cumulative progress and application of skills. For the Review Books, the student will follow the same routine: Word Warm-Up; Online Reading; with the option of Read & Record.
