Scholastic F.I.R.S.T. Snapshot
In Scholastic F.I.R.S.T., students engage with phonological and phonics activities, as well as with comprehension activities based on their ebooks. On the landing page, you’ll see a Snapshot showing your students’ activity in Scholastic F.I.R.S.T. for the current week.
THIS SNAPSHOT SHOWS:
A.) The number of students at each of the three levels of proficiency in phonics and phonological skills
B.) The number of students at each of the three levels of proficiency in comprehension skills
C.) Activity level the largest number of students have played that week
D.) The skills that the largest number of students are practicing in the level identified in “C”
E.) Scholastic F.I.R.S.T. stats: The number of ebooks completed this week and the number of students who moved up an activity level

From the Scholastic F.I.R.S.T. Snapshot tile on the landing page, select Explore. There, you’ll find data about individual students.
When you arrive on this screen, you’ll see data from the current week. You can also view data from previous weeks. Select the caret to the right of the date to reveal a calendar, and then highlight any week.
Total Minutes in Program
This chart shows the total minutes students in this class worked on Scholastic F.I.R.S.T. activities this week.
Students’ Minutes in Program
On this chart, each circle shows a student’s total number of minutes in F.I.R.S.T. on each day of the week. Dark green circles show minutes in F.I.R.S.T. during school hours. Light green circles show minutes in F.I.R.S.T. any other time of day. Overlapping dark and light circles indicate minutes spent during and outside of school hours in a single day. Select any circle to see how many sessions are represented, alongside the breakdown of minutes.
Student Progress: Activity Levels
This chart shows students’ progress in the 24 levels of phonological activities in Scholastic F.I.R.S.T., by student, up to and including the week you’ve selected. Select a pink square to see when the student completed the level. Select a green diamond to see when the student started the level. Levels that students completed or started in a previous school year are designated with a “P” in the pink square or green diamond.
Look For: Check in with any students who are a bit behind the others. Make sure they are spending the recommended time in Scholastic F.I.R.S.T.
Student Progress: Popcorn Library
The Popcorn Library spans 85 levels. This chart shows the highest level of ebook read by students. Select any figure for the corresponding student’s name.
Look For: Check in with readers in the emergent category. Ask them to practice reading their ebooks aloud to you. Also, if you have Literacy Pro, you may want to suggest additional ebooks for those readers who are in the beginning and fluency ranges.

This report includes three sets of data:
- Overall Comprehension Scores: Shows average scores of students in comprehension activities
- Distribution of Students by Comprehension Score: % of students whose scores fall into each proficiency range: learning, practicing, and proficient—for each comprehension skill
- Comprehension Progress: Shows student achievement in specific comprehension skills.
Student Performance: Phonics and Phonological Skills
This chart shows students’ performance on phonics and phonological activities in Scholastic F.I.R.S.T. Select any figure for the corresponding student’s name, as well as that student’s stats (number of correct answers out of number of attempts; percentage correct).
Look For: Scan this chart for clusters of students in the Learning category. These students may benefit from a mini-lesson on the corresponding phonics skill. If you find that a significant number of your students fall in the Learning and Practicing categories, you may consider teaching a whole-group lesson on that skill. Check the Phonological Skills section of the Class Overall Average Report report for detail about the skills students are finding challenging.
